Fair treats e-cigs like tobacco ones
OWATONNA, Minn. – Many communities across the country are beginning to treat electronic cigarettes like the traditional tobacco ones.
Now a local county fair is jumping on board. The Steele County Free Fair kicked off Tuesday, and one thing you will notice is no electronic cigarettes unless you are in a designated smoking area.
The fair board decided to go that route because it is the current rules in place for Steele County.
“The board went one step further as we’ve done in the past. None of our vendors can sell cigarettes or e-cigarettes. We have certain smoking areas around the fairgrounds, but just as a board we adopted that rule and that’s the way we’re going to move forward,” said Steele County Fair Board Director, Scott Kozelka.
He said so far people seem to understand and are following the rules put in place.
“We’ve had no contacts or anything like that. We’ve had a couple people ask where they can smoke, but all the board members are on the same page and addressing everyone’s needs,” Kozelka said.
The Steele County Free Fair runs through August 17.
