Government set to increase tobacco tax in economic statement

Chris Bowen has all but confirmed a looming hike in tobacco excise when the government releases its economic statement late this week.

Speaking in Brisbane, the treasurer said the government needed to "consider all measures" to reduce Australia's rate of smoking.
