Tobacco sales ‘sting’ results released

Fewer retailers in Santa Barbara County sold tobacco to minors this year, however, the rate was more than double the statewide average, the county Public Health Department announced Tuesday.

Of 401 retailers visited countywide, 16 percent, or 48 stores, sold cigarettes to an underage decoy, according to results of the joint operation between the Public Health Department, law enforcement and youth-serving agencies.
