Dixie State University bans tobacco use
Dixie State University in St. George will soon have a tobacco-free campus.
The university's board of trustees unanimously voted Friday to ban all tobacco products on campus beginning Jan. 1.
The ban covers all indoor and outdoor areas and all uses of tobacco, including such products as electronic cigarettes.
The university plans to launch a marketing campaign in coming weeks to educate the public about the new policy.
Officials say the action was taken after a three-year review process driven by students.
