MLB commissioner Bud Selig and Players Association executive director Tony Clark want to work together to reduce and ultimately eliminate the use of smokeless tobacco in the game. Smokeless tobacco is banned in the minor leagues, but MLB's new rules enacted in 2001 just prohibit teams from providing tobacco and players carrying tobacco cans in their uniforms or doing on-camera interviews while chewing tobacco.
