For a tobacco-free Dubai

The Dubai Health Authority’s (DHA) ‘Tobacco-Free Dubai Project’ is conducting a series of awareness campaigns to educate the community about the health hazards of tobacco consumption.

The awareness campaigns are held under the patronage of Shaikh Majid bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, in line with the World No-Tobacco Day 2013 and World Environment Day. The DHA is holding these awareness initiatives in partnership with SFFECO (Saudi Factory for Fire Equipment Est.), Dubai Investments and Dubai Municipality.

Dr Ahmad Kalban, CEO of the Primary Healthcare at the DHA, recently inaugurated the three-day campaign at The Dubai Mall. He highlighted the need for such outreach programmes, particularly with regard to tobacco use and lifestyle diseases which can be corrected through change of habits and modification of lifestyle.

Dr Hanan Obaid, Tobacco Free Dubai Project leader and head of Community Health Services Programmes Primary Health Sector at the DHA, said that the DHA would conduct a series of awareness workshops across governmental entities as part of the education and screening programme.
