No anti-tobacco signage in Patna, rues Tata Memorial Hospital oncologist

Oncologist Pankaj Chaturvedi of Mumbai's Tata Memorial Hospital oncologist has pleaded afresh for ban on all tobacco products in Bihar, including the 'paan masalas' which claim they don't have nicotine content. 

Dr Chaturvedi, who was in Patna to attend a workshop on Sunday, told newsmen a la Maharashtra, Bihar must also ban all tobacco products, including 'saada paan masala'. Most 'pan masala' brands have the same name as tobacco-containing brands called gutka and serve as surrogate products for gutka advertisement, he said. At times, 'paan masala' companies even sell it as the mixture of two that escape the eyes of authorities.
