Winooski, VT — Winooski Housing Authority (WHA) in Winooski, Vermont, was designed to promote healthy, safe and quality affordable housing. On November 1, the authority will implement a tobacco-free policy to safeguard the health of its residents. The tobacco-free policy covers all units. Wendy Sweet, Assistant Executive Director of WHA, says the agency chose to put the tobacco-free policy into effect as a way to prevent secondhand smoke exposure in the building.
“The health and well-being of residents is our foremost concern. A tobacco-free building is safer and contributes to a better living environment,” she said.
“We want Winooski Housing Authority homes that all residents will enjoy,” said Sweet. “In addition to being tobacco-free, WHA homes offer centrally-located homes. Residents may enjoy a walk on the nature trails or by the river.”
