Hull's Board of Health votes to increase tobacco sales age to 21

Hull's Board of Health said a new rule that will be raise the minimum age for buying tobacco products will not be changed.

Board members increased the age to purchase cigarettes and other products from 18 to 21.

A convenience store owner said that increase would hurt business.

The Patriot Ledger reported the owner wanted the town to change the minimum to 19 instead, but the board decided Tuesday to not change the rule.

The new rule will take effect Jan. 1.
