The birds were just about the only ones around to see the start of the University of Texas at San Antonio's campus-wide smoking ban.
But for some of those sticking around during the summer, the ban might actually impact them.
"It's actually nice," student Brandon Rivas said. "I appreciate it as a nonsmoker myself."
Over the last year, the university has restricted smoking to a few designated areas and the parking lots around campus. On Sunday, that all changed, though one smoker we talked to said it's a ban in name only.
"I mean they say no smoking and they try to enforce it, but it's not really enforced or anything," Espri said.
