Tobacco ban brings students' thanks

The Hartland Township CVS store received a thank-you — 300 of them, in fact — for its parent company’s new policy banning the sale of cigarettes and other tobacco products.

A group of students from Hartland Middle School at Ore Creek visited the CVS at M-59 and Old U.S. 23 recently to deliver hundreds of letters in support of the new CVS policy.

While it won’t be implemented until Oct. 1, the ban on tobacco products has been hailed as an important step in promoting good health among young people.

“When teenagers come here, they will no longer be tempted to buy them,” Ore Creek student Abby Peterson said.
