New local survey results show a growing acceptance for restricting smoking in public places.
The Broome Tioga Tobacco Control Partners commissioned the study of adult opinions in both counties. The results show a very slight increase in the number of people who would support banning smoking near building entrances and public parks and pools.
For example, the number of Broome County residents supporting a smoking ban in parks rose from 67 percent in 2006 to 74 percent last year.
