Chew tobacco use target of Great American Spit Out
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — North Dakota health officials are reminding people that chewing spit tobacco is not a safe alternative to smoking.
The Health Department's Tobacco Prevention and Control Program encourage chewing-tobacco users to get help with quitting during Sunday's Great American Spit Out.

The health department estimates that about 8 percent of adults and nearly 14 percent of high school students use spit tobacco.
The Spit Out is part of the national Through with Chew Week.
