Smokeless tobacco not a safe alternative
Tobacco Free Seminole and Tobacco Free Florida have joined together to warn Floridians about the harmful effects of using smokeless tobacco and how to stop using these products. In recent weeks, local high schools, such as Lake Howell High, and local organizations, such as SWAT Chapter Youth, have also done their part to let people know about the dangers of using smokeless tobacco.
"Smokeless tobacco is not a safe alternative to tobacco usage," said Swannie Jett, the health officer of the Department of Health in Seminole County, in a release. "Using smokeless tobacco can affect your appearance and eventually the development of oral cancer. This can be avoided by attending our smoking cessation classes to find safe solutions to reduce tobacco usage."
