Gambia: Stakeholders Express Concerns Over Tobacco Control As Cigarette Smoking Increases Among Adolescent & Adults
The Deputy Permanent Secretary, Finance and Administration at the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, Ramatoulie Sarr Jah has indicated that tobacco use particularly cigarette smoking is on the increase among both the adolescent and adult populations in the Gambia.
She further added that recent research suggests that smoking prevalence in the adolescent population aged 13 to 15 years is estimated at 24.5%, the majority, 28.1% of which are boys.
