dailymail.co.uk – 18 de Agosto de 2015 – EEUU

DETROIT (AP) - Wayne State University's main campus and extension centers are being made smoke- and tobacco-free effective Wednesday.

The Detroit school says the new policy will apply to all employees, students, contractors and visitors. The university's President M. Roy Wilson says in a statement that the school is "committed to the health and well-being of students, faculty, staff, alumni and visitors."

Tobacco cessation resources are being made available. The current policy permits tobacco use on campus but restricts it within 25 feet of any building.

The university joins hundreds of institutions nationwide that have adopted smoke- and tobacco-free policies for indoor and outdoor spaces.

The Wayne State University School of Medicine has been smoke-free since July 2008.
