Jailed: Tameside tobacco smuggler caught with 230,000 cigarettesA man who smuggled illegal tobacco and booze has been jailed – after being found with 230,000 illegal cigarettes.

Sanjay Mistry, 42, from Stalybridge in Tameside, was also found with 374 litres of wine and 20kg of hand rolling tobacco when HM Customs and Excise officers searched his home and other properties he owned.

The former railway worker is believed to have avoided paying £83,000 in customs duty by smuggling tobacco, cigarettes, vodka and wine.
