Women outdo men in tobacco consumption – 14 de Mayo de 2015 – India

RAIPUR: When it comes to tobacco consumption, women in Chhattisgarh outdo men. Rate of women smoking and chewing tobacco has gone up by 16% while there`s a 5% dip in addiction among men. Though consumption of tobacco still remains high among men at 63.

9%, data released by the Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI) based on Global Adult Tobacco Survey (GATS) reveals that in five years (2005-06 and 2009-10), women tobacco users have grown at a higher rate, from 25.2% to 41.6%.

As per National Health Survey-3, 68.6% men and 25.2% women in Chhattisgarh were tobacco users in 2005-06.
